I`d rather go with a more faded content box, the graphics are important but they exist to promote the information on the website, not substitute them. A very contrasted background behind a text might be too hard to read. I like the header and the navigation area tho` I see custom fonts ( not standard like Arial, etc. ) so unless you`re going to develop the header in flash, I don`t see the way you could display those fonts ( don`t get me wrong, there are a few ways but they are very complex, and they need too much work ).

What can I say, work hard youre on the good way.
